EARTHDAY.ORG, the global organizer of Earth Day, has partnered with National CleanUp Day® Keep America Beautiful® and World CleanUp Day® to remove trash across more than 190 countries. Throughout the month of April, Earth Day Network teams with organizations globally in encouraging people to get outside and safely clean up their communities.

Join us for a historic beach cleanup effort form the Mexican Border to Malibu!
With 120 locations we will be Southern California's most geographically expansive beach cleanup effort! With just a few hours of your time, you can be part of this landmark event and make a direct impact in your local community. Together we will collect and track over 3,000 lbs of trash. Each item removed from the beach represents thousands of potential micro-plastics that will not pollute our oceans

The Keep America Beautiful America Recycles Day is the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Held on and around Nov. 15, America Recycles Day educates and encourages individuals on how to be more mindful of what they consume, where and how to properly recycle, and to pledge to recycle more and recycle right in their everyday lives.
National CleanUp Day has a 2020 focus for recycling at our National Parks. The National Parks Conservation Association is working to address recycling at three iconic national parks: Denali, Grand Teton and Yosemite, to better educate and engage visitors about the amount of waste in our parks and what they can do to help. Focusing on individual action, the 2020 America Recycles Day highlights the actions we can all take to collectively address the challenges facing our nation’s recycling system. Through ARD, Keep America Beautiful and its partners inspire communities and individuals to recognize the economic, environmental, and social benefits of recycling. Keep America Beautiful urges people to pledge to reduce, reuse, repurpose and recycle in every aspect of their life. The #BeRecycled pledge is a promise to actively choose to live a recycled lifestyle by:
Recycling at home, work, school and on the go;
Buying products made with recycled content; and
Educating and encouraging friends, family, and neighbors to take the #BeRecycled pledge
Aside from the #BeRecycled Pledge, people can be part of the recycling solution by participating or hosting their own America Recycles Day event. Events can be scheduled at any time during the fall leading into the official America Recycles Day celebration, Nov. 15. Keep America Beautiful encourages all participants and event organizers to follow state and local health guidelines pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEEF's National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, the event brings out thousands of volunteers to help restore and improve public lands around the country. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has upended many aspects of daily life in this country, and our public lands are no exception. Due to social distancing requirements remaining in place for the foreseeable future, many public lands sites will be unable to host large, in-person NPLD events. With this in mind, we are excited to announce we will be expanding the available options for volunteers during this year’s NPLD on September 26, 2020.
The theme for NPLD 2020 is "More Ways to Connect to Nature." In addition to our standard NPLD programming, this year's celebration will include virtual events designed to connect the public to iconic parks, national forests, marine estuaries, and other public lands sites. These online events will serve as an alternative for NPLD site managers who are uncomfortable with or are not allowed to host in-person events due to local regulations.
This does not mean we are abandoning in-person events. Public land sites that wish to host in-person events—in accordance with local rules and regulations regarding COVID-19—will still be able to register their event on the NEEF website.
Volunteer in your public lands to help the outdoors by doing a cleanup, performing trail work, habitat improvement, invasive species removal and more.

Fee-Free Entrance Day
In celebration of National Public Lands Day, this coming Saturday, September 26, has been designated as a Fee-Free Day(link is external) by the National Park Service and other participating federal agencies. This means that on National Public Lands Day, the fees to enter any of the National Park System’s 418 parks are waived. This also includes admission into sites managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the Department of Defense, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and US Forest Service.
Volunteers and partners worldwide come together to rid our planet of trash – cleaning up litter and mismanaged waste from our beaches, rivers, forests, and streets.This world-changing idea began in the small northern European country of Estonia, in 2008. 50,000 people united to clean up the entire country in just five hours.

Since the very beginnings of the pandemic, Keep America Beautiful® has been clear that the health and safety of our communities and volunteers is our civic responsibility and our top priority.
Due to concerns regarding the increased transmission rate of COVID-19, Keep America Beautiful is shifting the Stamford TrashDash™ scheduled for Sunday 9/20 from an organized group event to individual plogging activities. This is 100% aligned with the TrashDash plan for the rest of the country.
All cleanups should adhere to guidelines from federal, state, and local public health officials so timely and accurate information can guide safe and appropriate activities in each location.
THE GREAT GLOBAL CLEANUP HAS BEEN MOVED FROM APRIL TO SEPTEMBER FOR 2020. EARTH DAY HAS PARTNERED WITH WORLD CLEANUP DAY, KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL, AND NATIONAL CLEANUP DAY FOR A BETTER OUTDOORS.

The fourth annual National CleanUp Day, in partnership with the Earth Day Network and Keep America Beautiful, will be taking place on Saturday, September 19. National CleanUp Day addresses the issue of mismanaged waste and litter across America and encourages people to get out and clean up their communities.
Since its inception in 2017, hundreds of thousands of individuals have helped clean up their local parks, beaches, rivers, forests and everywhere in between. Organizations big and small are joining the cause by arranging their very own Tailored CleanUp™ catered to their members.
Businesses, municipalities, and youth organizations across the country are taking part in this year’s event, and conducting small or individual cleanups in their neighborhoods.
The Girl Scouts of Nebraska are just one example. They plan to have troops conduct cleanups on the 19, as National CleanUp Day perfectly aligns with their values.
“Girl Scouts is all about making the world a better place. Our members continually strive to make positive change in their communities and the world around them,” said Lori Williamson, program director for Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska. “We know that when we work together, our impact is amplified. By focusing on National Cleanup Day, Girl Scouts become part of something big and can put their strength and commitment toward improving our planet.”
Bryan Smith, Assistant Director of Friends of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Ohio also sees National CleanUp Day as a great opportunity for his town to work together toward shared improvement.
“National CleanUp Day is extremely important to Friends of Portsmouth because it falls in line with our mission and what our group is trying to accomplish within the community. We want to bring local organizations such as Main Street Portsmouth, The Counseling Center, and others together to take pride in their community.”
Participants in National CleanUp Day should adhere to all local guidance, and perform vigorous safety and sanitation practices.
